Discovery Church exists in order to develop…

...a community that loves God.

We believe in the Great Commandment, which begins with “Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, with all of your soul, with all of your mind, and with all of your strength.” (Mark 12:30) We exist in order to promote a love for God.  It is this love for him that is fundamental to all other values, purposes and practices.

...a community that loves people, without prejudice, through service.

The second part of the Great Commandment is to “love your neighbor as yourself.” Therefore, Discovery Church places a high emphasis on loving people. It is critical that our love for people not be limited to people that look, dress, and talk like us. Real love is a verb, and we will show that love through active service.

...a community that actively interacts with God’s story through Scripture and prayer.

At Discovery Church, we know the Bible is living, active and transforms lives as we live out this message from God. Understanding and interacting with Scripture is only one half of connecting with God, the other half is through prayer.  Without prayer, it is difficult to hear the Holy Spirit speak into our specific situations. Also, we learn from the Bible that prayer moves God.  Discovery Church prays expectantly and confidently for God’s will.

...a community that views worship as a lifestyle.

The point of weekly gatherings is to launch every family and individual into a week’s worth of loving God and loving neighbors in the manner that God has created them. At Discovery Church, we believe in equipping and building up healthy, spiritual families.  We believe that we worship God with who we are, so we strive to be people of integrity and healthy accountability.
